Lombardi Trophy at building scale
Animation content for a building-scale Vince Lombardi Trophy installation on One Arizona Center during Super Bowl LVII, produced for Omnispace360.
For Super Bowl LVII, Omnispace360 installed a large-format printed graphic of the Vince Lombardi Trophy on the exterior of One Arizona Center in downtown Phoenix. They hired Backbeat to make it move.
The build
The constraint was the print itself. The animation had to register exactly against a physical graphic fixed to the building, at architectural scale, with no room for drift. Every element was aligned to the printed trophy so the projection read as depth and light on the artwork, not a video played over it.
Backbeat produced motion content that worked with the structure of the graphic: subtle animation, lighting passes, and movement designed to give the flat print dimensionality without fighting it. Greg D’Amico contributed additional motion graphics on the final visuals.
What happened
The piece ran on the Phoenix skyline during Super Bowl week, the kind of production where precision is the whole job. The trophy held up at building scale because the animation was built for that one surface, that one print, that one week.
